For everyone who has been watching our “Mental Health During COVID-19” video series, thank you!

Dr. Aimee Drescher, a clinical psychologist, and Dr. Carson Felkel, system medical director behavioral health, have been recording their informational conversations about mental health. During this video series, that have focused on the mental health of families and kids during all of the uncertainty brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

National Suicide Prevention Month is September, so Dr. Drescher and Dr. Felkel wanted to address this important topic, especially as it pertains to teenagers. During their talk, they cover the different levels of suicidal thoughts and actions to be aware of. Also, they give helpful tips on how to discuss any suicidal thoughts your kid might be having with them.

During such a conversation, be sure to listen to what they have to say, tell them everything is going to be okay and remain calm. If a situation ever becomes dangerous in your household, always contact 911 right away.
