You may be experiencing stress or anxiety about your own health or that of your loved ones, especially if the COVID-19 outbreak has impacted your community.
Here are some tips for maintaining your well-being.
Stay informed, but avoid excessive media coverage of COVID-19.
Checking a reliable news source regularly is a good idea so you can stay updated with any new community guidelines or important developments. But be sure to take breaks from watching, reading or listening to news stories. It can be upsetting to hear about the crisis and see images repeatedly.
Take care of your body.
Take deep breaths, stretch or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep and avoid alcohol and drugs.
Make time to relax.
Try to do some activities you enjoy, like listening to music or engaging in a hobby.
Connect with others.
Share your concerns and how you are feeling with a supportive friend or family member. Maintain healthy relationships.
Be present in the moment.
Concentrate on things that are in your control right now. Remind yourself that strong feelings will fade.
Focus on the positive.
Most importantly, maintain a sense of hope and positive thinking. By following guidelines, avoiding panic and supporting one another, we’ll get through this!
