With more than 30 years of experience in the field, Paul Freel, MD, a physician at Bon Secours Gateway Family Medicine, has helped countless patients achieve better health and wellness.

Dr. Freel has served as a primary care physician in a private practice and as a physician for the Air Force in New Mexico, bringing his expertise and compassionate care to each and every role he undertakes.

One experience that stands out for Dr. Freel was the realization of the impact he has had on his patients’ lives. When he announced he was leaving his last role, Dr. Freel was moved by how many people came to him telling him how much he meant to them. It was truly a touching moment for him.

Dr. Freel finds the most rewarding aspect of his career in positively impacting people’s health, whether it is treating diabetes or depression. He has also participated in more than 30 short-term mission trips with BMDMI, SMI and Samaritans Purse, where he has provided medical care to people in need. His last mission trip brought him to Albania for five weeks, where he cared for refugees from Afghanistan.

When he’s not working, Dr. Freel enjoys renting a cabin in the woods, where he can relax with a good book and a cup of coffee. Thank you, Dr. Freel, for your dedication to your patients and community!
