“The culmination of decades of work has led me to be right where I want to be – in a position to help others,” Eric Kane, DO, a new practitioner of internal medicine at Bon Secours – Woodward Medical Center, shares.

For Dr. Kane, the most rewarding aspect of being a practicing internist is being able to see patients and make positive impacts upon their lives over time. It’s incredibly rewarding for him to see the effects of a collaborative treatment plan come to fruition and see a patient’s condition improve.

“I enjoy helping patients realize their potential and to alleviate their concerns,” he adds.

As a new resident of Greenville, SC, Dr. Kane has been thoroughly enjoying all the cycling opportunities this area has to offer.

“Cycling enthusiasts from around the country come to this area for the beautiful roads, the incredible terrain and the weather,” he shares. “Once I began to explore the area a bit, I fell in love with all we have to offer in Greenville. I would like to help make positive impacts in the community by being an advocate for safe cycling, better and safer roads and trails, and the value of regular cycling to achieve and maintain overall health.”

Dr. Kane feels challenges like climbing a mountain on a bicycle have relevance to his professional life.

“Just like with patients returning to physical fitness after years away, one has to tackle a significant task, like a mountain climb, with some degree of awareness,” he states. “You have to build up to a big task, you have to train and be somewhat diligent. Using some of the strategies of cycling, I hope to impart useful techniques for my patients in overcoming obstacles to their health. A large challenge, like a mountain climb or a significant health challenge, needs to be approached with knowledge, respect, planning and an understanding that time, effort and diligence will be necessary.”
