Meet Jacob Budny, DO, FAAOS, an orthopedic specialist at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center!

“I’ve been practicing medicine for 13 years now and have been with Bon Secours for three of those years,” he shares.

The honor of working with people to improve their quality of life and celebrating the amazing machine that is the human body are reasons Dr. Budny decided to go into the medical field.

“I find the most rewarding aspect of my work is the joy of a good outcome and a job well done.”

When asked if he thinks the medical profession has changed since the COVID-19 pandemic, he says absolutely.

“Medicine will never be what it was in the past,” Dr. Budny adds. “We are now in many ways more accessible to patients. Virtual medicine has changed the face of all medicine. We are also more aware of the limitations of our current systems, and hopefully thoughtful improvements are being developed.”

When asked about his fellow physicians, he shares that they are a dedicated group of individuals who have decided to perform necessary work for the betterment of the world around them.

“For me, National Doctors’ Day is a time to reflect on all of our different roles,” Dr. Budny shares.

Earning the trust of patients is Dr. Budny’s favorite thing about being a physician. He is most proud of his ability to change lives for the better with his work. And as for what he would be doing if he wasn’t an orthopedic specialist?

“I would likely be doing cell biology research,” he reveals.
