We are happy to welcome Tyler Wind, MD, to Bon Secours Kilmarnock Surgical Specialists!

“One of the most important things in life to me is the ability to remain active,” Dr. Wind shares. “With orthopedics, I have the opportunity to help keep people active and doing the things that they love – free of pain.”

After completing his medical training, Dr. Wind returned home to the Tappahannock region, having grown up in the Northern Neck region.

“I understand the culture, the goals and the lifestyle of the people here,” he shares. “I especially understand the critical connection between doctor and patient and how that relationship can impact outcomes.”

For the last decade Dr. Wind has sustained one of the busiest practices in the state, caring for many of his neighbors.

“I am eager to continue my goal of giving back to the community that I love and caring for my friends and neighbors in the Northern Neck region.”

Patients who seek out Dr. Wind for care are often experiencing some type of orthopedic pain – hand, hip, knee, shoulder, leg, etc. This is why he is so passionate about exceptional caring for those in his community – so that patients do not have to travel far from home.

By design, Dr. Wind has studied multiple areas of orthopedic care and surgical procedures. His extensive training allows for him to care for patients of all ages, treating everything from basic orthopedic problems to fractures and complex joint replacements.

“I knew that serving in a rural area would require me to care for a wide variety of complaints,” Dr. Wind explains. “I wanted to be a specialist in each type of orthopedic surgery and devoted much of my time to extensive training. The patients of the Northern Neck deserve the very best care available, and I wanted to be able to provide that.”

Some specialty procedures that Dr. Wind performs include minimally invasive anterior hip replacements, endoscopic carpal tunnel, arthroscopic shoulder and knee procedures, computer navigated and cementless joint replacements and minimally invasive treatment for common fractures.

“Serving the people of my community and hometown region while getting them back to doing the activities they enjoy without pain is what’s most rewarding for me,” he adds.

When asked about the challenges of providing care, Dr. Wind explains that the most challenging thing for him is time. He tries to dedicate himself to giving each and every patient the time they deserve.

“I vow to provide exceptional care to everyone who walks through my door.”

For Dr. Wind, establishing trust with his patients is extremely important. “I think each patient deserves the best care available. And if I am not able to provide the highest level of expertise or care, I will refer that patient to someone with the skills and training required.”

Dr. Wind does have experience treating challenging cases though. He will also see patients who may be unhappy with the treatment they received from another orthopedic physician. Overall, his priority is to make sure that his patients are able to return to a healthy active life.

Aside from caring for his community, Dr. Wind also values his family and faith, often speaking at local churches, coaching youth sports and participating in community service. Additionally, he owns a local farm, vineyard and winery, and manages a construction company. In his spare time, he enjoys driving his monster truck, putting smiles on kids’ faces as he performs professionally in shows both locally and nationwide.
