From Pain to Progress: Steve’s Physical Therapy Journey

Steve Dolleman’s journey began in October 2023, when a workplace injury led to shoulder surgery. He was referred to a therapy group outside Bon Secours and spent five months in their care. Despite his best, most consistent effort, Steve continued to experience significant pain and minimal progress.

While he was still managing his shoulder issues, Steve developed problems with his knee. This led to meniscus surgery in May 2024, followed by a total shoulder replacement in June 2024.

Determined not to repeat his earlier experience and with the flexibility to choose any therapy center in the area, Steve decided to personally visit and evaluate the Bon Secours – St. Francis Therapy Center at St. Francis Millennium before starting physical therapy.

What he found exceeded Steve’s expectations.

From the moment he walked into the facility, he knew he was in the right place.

“The staff was knowledgeable and pleasant, and Charlotte, the receptionist, was incredibly professional,” Steve shares. “She made working with workers’ compensation and scheduling seamless.”

Steve’s knee and shoulder therapist was Margaret “Meg” Bagwell, PT, DPT, and he can’t say enough good things about her.

“Meg is over-the-top great,” he explains. “She’s knowledgeable, personable, and incredibly punctual, which is important since I have to head to work after my sessions.”

The individualized care from our team stood out to Steve. Each 50-minute session was focused solely on him and his needs. Meg tailored his therapy plan to include stretching, weightlifting, needling and home exercises to support his recovery. She also provided valuable resources to ensure he could maintain his progress between sessions.

Overall, Steve’s therapy results have been transformative.

“I’ve seen consistent improvement, and Meg is always responsive to how I’m feeling. If I’m in pain, she adjusts the therapy as needed.”

The facility itself has also left a lasting impression on Steve.

“It’s very clean, and the therapists all interact and work well together. You can tell they care and take pride in how they operate.”

On November 18, 2024, Steve was able to return to work, thanks in no small part to the care he received. He continues to work with Meg and appreciates her thoroughness and dedication.

“Meg would be a model therapist for others to learn from,” Steve says. “She knows so much and is truly invested in her patients’ success.”

Steve’s journey shows the importance of individualized care and the impact of skilled professionals. Meg and our therapy team members go above and beyond to ensure patients receive top-notch care tailored to their unique needs.

And for Steve, the difference has been life changing.

“From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in good hands.”
