Our ministry is happy to welcome An Barry Bui, MD, to Bon Secours – Cardiology, Reynolds Crossing and Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center.

“I’m drawn by the unique field of cardiac electrophysiology, which combines the intellectual rigor of diagnosing and treating abnormal arrhythmias with the use of innovative procedures and technology,” Dr. Bui shares. “Overall, cardiac electrophysiology offers a wide breadth of advanced procedures, from complex ablation to advanced device implantation, to help improve the quality of life of our patients.”

Dr. Bui is proud to bring a unique set of skills to his patients

“I’m board-certified in general cardiovascular medicine, as well as in cardiac electrophysiology.”

He specializes in fluoroless, or no radiation exposure, ablation for atrial fibrillation (AFib), subcutaneous implantable defibrillator (S-ICD) implantation, leadless pacemaker implantation, laser leads extraction, left-bundle pacing and left atrial appendage occlusion devices.

When asked what the most rewarding aspect of his specialty is, Dr. Bui shares that he feels very privileged to be able to have a career that he’s passionate about while building long-lasting relationships with patients.

“It’s rewarding to see my patient’s heart function improved following successful treatments that help improve their quality of life. Many are able to come off of meds after advanced electrophysiology therapies.”

Patients typically seek out Dr. Bui when they are experiencing abnormal symptoms, such as:

  • Palpitations
  • Dizziness
  • Lightheadedness
  • Syncope
  • Shortness of breath
  • Or chest pain relating to abnormal heart rhythm, such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), cardiomyopathy, device management and/or ventricular arrhythmias

Looking toward the future, Dr. Bui is excited to bring advanced ablation and device therapies to our patients.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Bui values quality family time with his wife and two young children. He also enjoys golfing, when the weather permits, snowboarding during the wintertime and rooting on the University of Virginia Wahoos.
